Monika's Story

Monika Everhardt is a nurse who has worked at St. Teresa's Hospital in South St. Louis since graduating from a local university school of nursing nearly twenty years ago. She has been the head nurse of the intensive care unit for the past five years.

Monika is a competent, confident, and compassionate nurse. She is spunky, sometimes impatient but loves her work, cares about her patients, and respects her coworkers. Monika is not reluctant to say what she thinks and is willing to confront the hospital's administrators if it mean better care for patients. Monika is the nurse we all hope will be there when we need a nurse.

Monika lives with a white angora cat named Catastrophe in a small brick bungalow in South St. Louis. Monika's lifelong friend, BJ, is an officer with the St. Louis Police Department. An only child whose parents are both dead, Monika is close to her extended family. Monika was married to her childhood sweetheart, Rick, who was killed in the waning days of the Vietnam War.

Monika enjoys classical music, college basketball, Cardinal baseball, and spending time with her family.

As I get to know Monika better, I'll let you know more.
